THE CASE
based on "The Pursuit of Red X" movie by Seidule Films
A GAME BY JESSE SEIDULE
Players: 2-4. Ages: 13+. Time: 10 Min.
You are a detective using your memory to solve a cold case. Other detectives are observing you closely and are possibly tampering with evidence. Can you present the best case amongst your peers and catch the serial killer?
The Case is a memory bluffing game for two to four players. Cards in a deck have a unique color bar (white, red, yellow, or black) and a deck position from 1/13 to 13/13. Each player acquires a premade 13 card deck. Shuffle your deck then draw five cards. The player that most recently visited New Orleans may go first.
Phase 1: File: You may place the top card of your deck into a separate pile. This pile will only contain filed cards. Any time a file occurs, all other players must file the top card of their deck.
Phase 2: Play: You may play one effect card (a.k.a. non-evidence card) face up. Completely resolve the effect, then log it.
Phase 3: Log Evidence: Choose any number of cards in your hand that you’d like to log and place them face down in any order. Before you log these cards, another player may accuse you of tampering. If you are accused, you must reveal the face down cards. If you are not guilty of tampering, look at the top four cards of your deck and you may file one. Combine the left over cards and the cards to be logged and log them in any order. If you are guilty of tampering, keep the cards you attempted to log in your hand and that player may look at the top four cards of his or her own deck, file one, then log the rest.
Phase 4: Draw: Draw cards until you have five cards in your hand. Your turn is over. The player on your left goes next.
Terminology:
Log: Place card(s) on the bottom of your deck, usually in any order.
Play: Place an effect card in front of you and resolve the effect.
Tampering: When a player logs an effect card face down.
How to Win: When all players have filed a total of five cards, the game is over. Each player counts the evidence points on their filed cards. The player with the highest evidence points captures Red X and wins the game. If a tie occurs, add the top card of each player’s deck to their filed cards until a winner is decided.
